Rowan Games Based Dog Trainer

My journey

I started out working in IT which was great but a bit soulless. Back in the early 2010s I trained as a yoga teacher and then as a life coach. Coaching fitted well into my full-time job in IT and yoga as a side hustle and a wonderful way to reduce stress and remain balanced. Then just before the COVID-19 lockdown, two dogs entered my life: Ash and Oyster.

I had had dogs before. But since I had been working away a lot there hadn’t been a dog in my life for a number of years. Boy did Ash and Oyster shake things up! We agreed that Ash and Oyster would move in with me at the start of April 2020. Then lockdown hit! As with a lot of lockdown dogs, they didn’t get a chance to find out about the world. Also, Oyster as a nervous adolescent and Ash a 12-week-old pup had moved from a smallholding to a town; their world had totally changed. Lockdown also meant no puppy or training classes. Enter the world of Zoom and home-schooling!

During this time, I trained Ash and Oyster. I trained to be a Pro Dog trainer with Absolute Dogs and a T Touch practitioner with Xtra Dog. This sparked a new passion for dog training, especially working with challenging dogs who find the world difficult. My training doesn’t stop there. I continue to train and learn to be the best trainer I can be and to pass my learning on to you to help you and your dog. To strengthen the bond between you and to make your adventures together fun and enjoyable.

Training for both ends of the leash

This is when I realised that most dog trainers just work with dogs! Well, yes, you may say. But there are two people on the leash! You and your dog. Let’s train both! Whether you’re looking for dog trainers close to you, or specialized reactive dog training, I’m here to help.

Reactive dogs

If your dog is challenging or reactive, it can be a lonely world. A reactive dog training which is near me is essential because reactive dogs are hard work. Some people and other dog carers may judge you and your dog for barking, lunging, pulling, or not coming back when called. This drains you; it makes you feel frustrated, angry, and ashamed. Sometimes you may even feel your dog is not right for you or you are letting your dog down! Does that sound and feel familiar? It was for me. And it’s okay to admit it. It’s good to admit it! It lightens the load and you are not alone.

Training and selfcare

I bring aspects of yoga and mindfulness to training to help you! A calm you helps to calm your dog. Your self-care is just as important as training and helping your dog live their best life. With years of experience as a Pro Dog trainer and caring for two different but challenging dogs, Ash and Oyster, I can share with you the main insights and tricks to help you and your dog. If you’re in the area, I also offer reactive dog training in Blackpool and reactive dog training in Lancashire to better serve local dog owners.
